Tragedy has struck.
Yesterday my Aunts 10 year boyfriend died of a heat stroke. This was completely unexpected and its shocking to think about. Steve (his name was Steve) was making a cross country trip with his dad in their camper and the transmission blew leaving them no air conditioner in Colorado. It is August and it is miserably hot there right now and he just kicked it. I feel so bad for her. You can't feel bad for the dead because the dead are already gone so you can really only support the survivors. She loved him. My mom, sister and both brothers were planning on driving to Florida tonight for a nice little beach getaway and instead of relaxing they are tending to Aunt Beth. The trip was planned two weeks ago, I guess it was justgood timing for everything. Aunt Beth and my mom are very close (sister-in-laws) and I'm just glad that they are going to have each other this weekend. Every year we make our trip to Florida to visit family and have a little fun because lets face it... We are a
really fun clan. Mom and her have played the same joke on each other for as long as I can remember. If we come to her house then mom packs "the sheets"... "The Sheets" are a pair of white satin sheets that have a very hunky man printed on them. So when they are put onto the bed it looks like there is a man laying next to you on the other side of the bed. But every time they get together they secretively put the satin man sheets on each others bed...kinda like surprise re-gifting. It is always a smile maker and just reminds me of how fun my family is. I like the memories that we have. They are the most important ones I think. Today is just a self-reflective day to think about family. Think about your kin and remember how important they are to you because you could possibly never see them again. What is your favorite family memory?
